**Story of Appreciation**

One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the first interview; the director did the last interview, made the last decision. The director discovered from the CV that the youth’s academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score.

The director asked, “Did you obtain any scholarships in school?” the youth answered “none”.

The director asked, “Was it your father who paid for your school fees?” The youth answered, “My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.
The director asked, “Where did your mother work?” The youth answered, “My mother worked as clothes cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.

The director asked, “Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?” The youth answered, “Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books.Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.

The director said, “I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother’s hands, and then see me tomorrow morning. The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid.

The youth cleaned his mother’s hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother’s hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water.

This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes
every day to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother’s hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future.

After finishing the cleaning of his mother’s hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, mother and son talked for a very long time. Next morning, the youth went to the

director’s office. The Director noticed the tears in the youth’s eyes, asked: “Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?”

The youth answered, “I cleaned my mother’s hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes’
The Director asked, “Please tell me your feelings.” The youth said,

Number 1,
I know now what appreciation is. Without my mother, there would not the successful me today.

Number 2,
By working together and helping my mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done.

Number 3,
I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship.

The director said, “This is what I am looking for to be my manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired.

Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employeeworked diligently and as a team. The company’s performance improved
tremendously.

About Story:

This common story was shared to me by my field supervisor (Fr. Mani). It was very ordinary story with important yet simple learning. We have been receiving care/blessings/favor of so many people (daily) and their contribution are taken as granted. It is not necessary to always say THANK YOU; some symbolic gestures, care  and positive notion may come as appreciating means. So, let’s try to APPRECIATE our near and dear ones. Let’s start to learn from our surroundings as well. We know mother is considered to be the best manager ever so we can start learning from her…
CHEERS and HAPPY READING to all

2070 B.S. looks promising like a Lotus

Nation has given farewell to 2069 B.S. with some sweet and bitter memories. There were moments where nation cheered and moments where nation saddened. Political arena became popular with its controversy and at the same times some government initiatives like Drink & Drive, Road Expansion, etc. were appreciated.
Let’s keep our past aside, but let’s remember we have to learn from past itself. Now, talking about the promising 2070, nation had a fine starting this year with some noticeable activity around.
First of all, our very own Sajha bus is now at service once again. Sajha bus was very popular public transport in Nepal. Everyone stills remember famous comedian/actor Hari Bansa Acharya’s song “साझा बसमाजो पनिचड्दछ, किलिनडर लेदुइ रुपैयाको टिकटकाट्दछ”. After 10 years or so, the service has been restarted and it has been inaugurated with 16 buses which have capacity of 54 seats with affordable price. Then blue colored and now green colored shuttle service has become talk of town these days.

Now let’s talk about newly set world record by journalist Rabi Lammichane. Lamichhane stayed on air for more than 62 hours. He interviewed politicians, journalists and celebrities themed “Buddha was born in Nepal”. Certainly, this campaign united the Nepalese and gave us a new world record and promoted Buddha was born in Nepal (to unfold our reality).

Right now I can only figure our these two GOOD NEWS for NEPAL. If you have any other aspect that makes us optimistic about future, please add on J

Let’s share other good news as well !!

FINGER LICKIN’ GOOD

He was 65 years old when he received his first social security check of $99. He was broke, and owned a small house and a beat up car. He made a decision that he has got to change. The only idea he had was a chicken recipe, which his friends liked. With that idea in mind, he took massive action. He left his home in Kentucky and traveled to many states in the US to sell his idea. He told the restaurant owners that he had a chicken recipe that people liked and he was giving it to them for free. What he wanted in return was for the restaurant owners to pay him a small percentage on the pieces of chicken sold. He got rejections after rejections, but did not give up. In fact, he got over 1000 rejections. He got 1009 no’s before he got his FIRST yes.
With that one success Colonel Harland Sanders changed the eating habits of the whole world with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC).

Note: The story has been taken from the book ‘CAPPUCINO AND SUCCESS’

Author’s note:
Just Learn from it…You may not like KFC food but you may internalize the motivation behind the success of KFC. Sometimes, many NO may guide you towards BIG SUCCESS.

Lastly, Success is yours, go for it. Have a cheerful day readers 🙂

First-Class Complainer

As other usual day I was sitting in a cafe with few friends. The topic of the chat among the friends was also accustomed; i.e. complain. The regular complains included complain on traffic jam, government, politicians, load shedding, exams, teachers, education system and so on. We were even complaining about passing our days typically doing nothing more than just complaining on everything. Meanwhile, the chat was distracted by the ring of the cell phone followed by a loud voice “Hello”. After a short while the man receiving the call entered and complained about the poor telecom network. Then all of a sudden I grabbed opportunity to complain about the late food delivery of the café. The complaint was followed by the food brought by the waiter to which suddenly my friend made his face awful and said it’s too hot. Then I replied; it must have been cooked on fire so it’s obvious to be hot in an ironic manner and to this everybody laughed noisily. The couple sitting next to us complained the café owner about our noise which was disturbing them. The café owner requested us to be silent.  Then my other friend complained the owner about the chef for cooking at a snail’s pace (slowely). Then, to that complaint the cook yelled from kitchen; “the dish you ordered requires time to be made suitable for eating.” The time was going on when one strange grown-up man came and smiled towards us. He said; you guys seem to be fine so better think and perform something constructive for your surroundings. We thought he might have been disturbed by us so we apologized. But he merely said; I’m not here to grumble and object anything. He then took our permission and shared a short story which goes like this:
“Once upon a time, the King placed a big rock on a roadway. Then he watched if somebody would remove the rock. Some of the civilian came by and simply walked around it. Many blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear. Then a farmer came along carrying a load of vegetables. The farmer laid down his load and worked to move the stone to the side of the road. After an hour, he succeeded. Then farmer noticed a purse lying in the road where the rock had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note of appreciation from the king. The farmer learned what other civilian never understood. So the moral of the story is; “Every blockade has a new way out. Therefore, it’s better to act rather than complain.” There’s opportunity to make things good from bad and these complains may show us the way towards making a prosperous Nepal which will remove the tag of complainer from youth. Existence of such worst situation is opportunity for us to make our generation proud that will surely benefit Generation-Next.
After sharing the story he went off. We were bewildered and looked at each other with wonder. One of my friend took no time again to complain and said; “Oh god, he went ruining our good time. So, whatever is the circumstance the complaining practice of human beings by no means goes away from him.
